Long Lake Fire Update September 11th
More Woods Restrictions Being Lifted
USPA NEWS -
Sept 11th, 2025: The Long Lake wildfires complex is being maintained at an estimated 8468 hectares, with no new reports of damage. Crews had a productive day yesterday, thanks to favourable weather conditions, and today is anticipated to be similarly productive. Nevertheless, the absence of rain presents challenges with dry fuel.
Fire crews are actively addressing persistent fire activity in the southern half of the fire, employing aircraft to drop water. Concurrently, crews are working to identify and eliminate hazards, while securing a 300-foot area around each West Dalhousie property.
Today's resources comprise eight helicopters, four planes, and a bird dog, seven pieces of heavy equipment, and seven water tankers. The firefighting personnel on site include 37 Department of Natural Resources staff, 60 Quebec firefighters, and support staff.
As of 4 p.m., restrictions will be lifted in half of the province's counties. The counties of Cape Breton, Richmond, Victoria, Inverness, Guysborough, Antigonish, and Halifax had restrictions lifted on August 29. A burn ban will remain in effect province-wide until October 15 or until further notice. In other counties, woods restrictions will persist due to hazardous conditions until October 15 or until lifted.
The following counties have been affected: Cumberland, Hants, Lunenburg, Kings, Annapolis, Queens, Shelburne, Digby, and Yarmouth.
